House Bill 7065: A step in the right direction

It has been six long years of fighting in Tallahassee for assignment of benefits reforms and to control one way attorneys fees.

An alliance led by insurance business and consumer groups, citizens insurance, the governor and state CFO finally passed HB 7065, but AOB abuse will continue and possibly increase due to the fact that the bill does not become law until July 1, 2019.

Aggressive plaintiff’s firms are sending out video alerts, press releases and eblasts targeting water mitigation and restoration contractors imploring them to refer all of their AOB related insurance disputes to their respective law firms. This demonstrates the tremendous need for AOB reform.
